RIOULT dance company held its annual Gala fundraiser on Wednesday, June 15th at The Altman Building following a performance at The Joyce Theater in Chelsea. The Honorees were Robert Cole, conductor and former Director of Cal Performances who presented RIOULT at Berkeley on three occasions and co-commissioned RIOULT’s signature work, “Bolero”; and Harsha Murthy, Managing Partner, Consummate Capital LLC and Chairman of RIOULT’s Chairman’s Council.
Both staunch fans of Pascal Rioult’s choreography, the evening was a celebration of their commitment to dance and shared passion for music. The event was co-chaired by Frank Shawl, Executive Director of The O’Donnell-Green Music & Dance Foundation; and Dr. Robert Davis, Founding member, RIOULT Chairman’s Council. Funds raised during the event will help support year-round health insurance for the dancers.
During The Joyce Season, RIOULT presented 2 World Premieres, “Celestial Tides,” completing Pascal Rioult’s evening of Bach, and “On Distant Shores…a redemption fantasy” set to original music by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer, Aaron Jay Kernis. The programs also included “Black Diamond,” “Views of the Fleeting World,” “City,” and “Bolero.” The 17-year-old ensemble is anxious to embark on its European Tour in March.
